Welcome to Class 5S. We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned this year.
The class 5S team: Miss Stalker, Mrs Hunter and Mrs Dugdale.
Welcome back to the final term of Year 5!! Our topic this half term is 'Splash'. We will be learning about the source and mouth of the River Lune and looking at a range of rivers from around the world. The children will learn about erosion and investigate this using sand. In art, children will sketch the River Lune and paint their drawings using water colour techniques. Our literacy work will be based around The Wind in the Willows and the children will also be writing their own river poem using personification. In Dt, the children will be designing and constructing their own bridge to meet a specific design criteria.
I am looking forward to this term as the weather hopefully starts to brighten up and we can plan lots of activities outdoors.
I would also like to introduce Miss Breslin and Miss Longworth who are students from the University of Cumbria and will be working with us for the next 8 weeks.
