Happy New Year - doesn't it already seem like Christmas was a lifetime ago?
For the first couple of weeks this term, we are finishing our 'Dungeons and Dragons' topic. This involves looking at the roles people took in castle life, as well as using Ordinance survey maps to decide the best place to put a castle in our local area.
The children are also, in groups of 3, putting the finishing touches to their own castles. This is a DT project and children have had to create a working drawbridge and also a portcullis that can be lowered and raised.
Our next topic will be 'Awesome Aztecs' - look our for information about this shortly.

Well done to all the children who wrote some brilliant persuasive letters so that Mrs Penney would allow us to visit Lancaster Castle - this is happening on 26th November.
Enterprise week will soon be upon us; we are making wreaths and baubles to sell at the Christmas Fair. If anyone has any old jigsaw they no longer need, please send them in asap - it doesn't matter what condition they are in.
Our next topic, 'Dungeons and Dragons' has begun with us building up to write a newspaper report about a dragon attack in 'Berk', followed by a descriptive story based around 'How to train your Dragon'. There may also be (time permitting) another opportunity for parents to come and see what children have been doing at our 'Medieval Banquet' - full details to follow.
Please check out the photos of our wonderful space sleepover below. There are also some reports about the school trip and the sleepover. If any children want to add to this, just hand them to Mr Gittins to go on the website. Market Street photos to follow.
Check out our awesome sci-fi paragraphs. We have focused on; sentence structure, description and speech. Also, why don't you read the full version of our Class 5G story, put together by all the children and Mr. Gittins. See if you can think of your own exciting ending.
