American Pancakes

Based on Jamie Oliver's recipe.

  • 3 large eggs
  • 140ml milk
  • 115g plain flour
  • 1 heaped teaspoon baking powder

  • a whisk (electric if you have one, other than that, good old arm power!)
  • a pancake pan or frying pan

Picture 1 Separate the 3 eggs. (Whites in a big jug/bowl.)
Picture 2 Put milk, flour & baking powder into a jug/bowl.
Picture 3 Whisk egg whites to stiff peaks. Brave the test!
Picture 4 Whisk all the other ingredients together.
Picture 5 Fold the egg whites into the wet mixture.
Picture 6 Spoon batter into hot pan, flip when bubbles form.
Picture 7 When golden on both sides, they're done!

Serve warm straight from the pan with your favourite topping. Here, we have a real selection: chocolate spread, honey, maple syrup, golden syrup, classic lemon and sugar, fresh berries and cream or yoghurt. Anything goes!

However, Taylor Towers rules are you can only drizzle them in strawberry sauce, hundreds and thousands and ice cream if they're for pudding!

How will you serve yours and what limits will you face with your toppings? How far can you push your grown ups with the sugar you stack on them???!!
