Around the World

                                 Weather Detectives

You are going to be going 'Around the World' and be a weather detective.

Each week I will post a video link and a comment on here which 2 places in the world we are going to look at to learning about the weather there.

Below are:

  • links to an online atlas. If you have an atlas at home or a globe you can use that.
  • a YouTube song about the 7 continents, there are other songs if you want.
  • sheets you can print off for recording the weather but you can make your own or record it in a book.
  • a world map for labelling the continents and the places we visit

"Let's go around the world!!!"

Week 6

Liliana in 2D is in the cockpit of our virtual plane for this week and I am really looking forward to this journey as she is taking us to two places I would love to go to.

First, she is flying us to Castellamare de Golfo, Sicily in Italy. This is a very special place for Liliana as her Grandfather was born there and her Dad was a child there.

Next, she is jetting us off to Australia and landing in Sydney.

The film clip can be found here: https://torrisholme-community-primary-school.primarysite.media/media/week-6-and-liliana-is-in-the-cockpit-of-our-virtua

WOW!!!!! What a fantastic trip.

You are finding out the weather for these two places. This can be on the sheets we have made and can be found lower down on this page, or you can write it in a book as your own weather diary.

Write a fact file on one of these places or the country.

Find out:

  • continent it is in;
  • population;
  • flag;
  • famous landmarks;
  • climate;
  • type of food eaten;
  • names of different cities that you find in that country

You can also add any photographs, drawings or art work based on the place.

Remember to send your work to year2@torrisholme.lancs.sch.uk

Week 3 Around the World Challenge

Hi everyone,

The places we are going to this week are very exciting and very different. Minnie has picked them using her world map.

She has picked Lapland, Finland and the Brazilian Rainforest. I think you will be able to find some amazing facts for these places. I am very excited to find out more about them.

To complete the weather sheets you need a town or city to put into the BBC world weather site. So I have chosen Rovaniemi, Lapland, Finland and Manaus, Brazil.

I can't wait to see what the weather is like in this places and the facts you can find out about.

This week you can:-

  • complete the weather sheets;
  • write a fact file for one of the places;
  • make a model, drawing, painting or anything creative that is related to these places.

Send your work into year2@torrisholme.lancs.sch.uk
