The children studied the stories of Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Through Pie Corbett's 'Active Storytelling', the children learnt how to retell the story orally before mapping out the stories in preparation for writing them. Often the children changed aspects of the stories, such as the characters or settings, to make the stories their own.
In design technology, the children created their own moving pictures based on a fairy tale theme. They created 3D pictures of Rapunzel's tower complete with a Rapunzel. The children learnt how to plait wool to create her long, plaited hair.
In art, the children used bold pastel colours to design their very own terrifying trolls based on the story of 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff'.
The half term ended with a short study on autumn with the children painting their own autumnal trees.
