The Grinch stole our Christmas tree!!!
The children arrived in school this morning to find an investigation waiting for them. The class Christmas tree had gone missing and it was their task to find out who took it! We went on a hunt around the school and found various pieces of evidence which led us to have a few ideas about who the suspect could be. We collated all our evidence on the board and then completed a colour by number bonds to 10 to identify the suspects face. It turns out it was in fact The Grinch!! We then designed wanted posters and stuck them round school asking the other children to keep a look out for the thief. The childrens writing was fantastic and they really got into it. Finally we wrote a letter to The Grinch altogether and when we returned from lunch, our tree had been put back up, together with a little sweet treat from the Grinch who apologised for what he had done :)! Thank you to Miss Devey for planning such a brilliant morning for the children.
Parent Puppet Workshop
Thank you to all the parents who joined us yesterday to help in our second Puppet workshop of the week, the children were very excited to have you with us to say the least!! The children made Split pin puppets of Peter Rabbit on Monday and yesterday made Peter Rabbit finger puppets and the results are brilliant. We will be using our puppets as a prop in our story telling over the coming weeks.
Beatrix Potter World
Wow!!! What a fantastic day we had today at Beatrix Potter World, you should be so proud of all the children they were a credit to the school and absolutely wonderful!! They learnt lots of new facts about Beatrix and even had a talk from Beatrix herself.
On Friday afternoon the children put their Historian heads on to explore and investigate artefacts from the past. In topic we have been studying the life of Beatrix Potter and the children loved learning about what was different to the way Beatrix lived and the way we live now. The bonnets and top hat were one of the children's favourite artefacts!!
Throwing,Catching and Bouncing
In our Games lessons, we have been practising throwing, catching and bouncing using lots of different types of balls. We have had so much fun playing the different games and we are getting very good at catching!
