Monday 1st June - Reading Comprehension

This week we are moving onto Traditional Tales from around the world. Below you will find a small selection for you to choose from, please do not feel like you have to complete them all. The password remains the same and can be requested via email.

Monday 18th May - Reading Comprehension

I know how much you enjoyed our topic on London. So, below are 5 non-fiction information texts about The British Monarchy for you to choose from - you do not have to complete them all. I really like the one on those beautiful, shimmering Crown Jewels! Remember to think about the reading skills you need to use when answering the questions, using specific parts of the text to explain your answer. The password remains the same and can be requested via email should you not have it.

Monday 11th May - Reading Comprehension

Here is a short story that your child will be familiar with. Some of the vocabulary used maybe less familiar and should help them put their reading and comprehension skills to the test. The children are familiar with skimming and scanning text and reading before and after a sentence to help with understanding any new and unseen vocabulary. As before, the file is password protected and continues to be the same. Please request via email should you not have it.

Monday 4th May - Reading Comprehension

Thank you to those of you who shared their feedback on Read Theory. We agree that this was not suitable for everyone and so we have decided to introduce the children to what they would be familiar with in school.

Every week I will post a short story or extract here with some questions for the children to answer. All the materials will be password protected (the password will be the same throughout and is available on request). The children are familiar with skimming and scanning text and using other reading skills, as shown below:

V - Vocabulary Vera

I - Inference Isobel

P - Prediction Pete

E - Evidence Erica

R - Retrieval Roger

S - Sequencing/Summarising Sid

Do let us know how you get on - Happy reading!
