WATERFEST!!

Our water festival was so much fun! We worked in teams solving problems and playing games involving lots of water! Check out the photos below;

Planting

We have been learning about plants. We know about each part of a plant and it's job. We also know what plants need to help them grow. We have planted beans in clear cups which means we can see the roots really clearly.

Our exciting trip to Leighton Moss!
We had such a brilliant day at Leighton Moss. We hunted for minibeast, dipped for pond creatures, made smelly nature potions, went on a nature walk and watched for birds. The weather even brightened up and we managed to eat dinner outside on the picnic benches. Check out the pictures underneath;
Minibeast Topic!
We have been learning about minibeasts! We know lots and lots of facts and have really enjoyed finding insects outside and discussing them with our friends. We even have our very own caterpillars and tadpoles in our classroom!

A visit from the Giant Land Snail!
Today we met a giant land snail! It was very exciting and we even all got a chance to hold it - it was a little slimy. A huge thanks to Reuben from class RK for bringing him in!

We have even been making minibeasts in the creative area! The children chose the resources thinking carefully about shape and colour. They then attached the resources using glue and cellotape. Here are a few examples of some great minibeast creations!

Super Safari Topic!!

We are having so much fun and learning lots about our new topic Africa and Safari Animals. The children know lots of facts about different animals. We know that other places in the world, like Africa, are different to where we live. The children have been role playing in our safari jeep taking it in turns to be the tour guide. We have also been making African necklaces in the creative area.

Chinese New Year!

We have been learning about Chinese New Year! We know lots about Chinese New Year traditions, we have made lucky packets and Chinese dragons. Check out the pictures below of us making and tasting Chinese food and having our very own Chinese parade with a dancing dragon and drums!

Healthy Living!

We have made fruit kebabs! We washed our hands first to get rid of the germs, used a knife safely to chop the fruit and carefully threaded it onto a kebab stick. They were very yummy and healthy too! We know we should eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

We have been learning and practising how to brush our teeth properly and how important it is to clean each tooth. We know that sugar is bad for our teeth and food gets stuck in the small gaps. We know we should brush our teeth for 2 minutes.

People Who Help Us Topic!

We have been learning about the different people who help us and how they help us. We have learnt about different occupations including police officers, vets, nurses, doctors, postal workers and firefighters. We have each junk modelled an emergency vehicle. We selected the shapes we needed to represent parts of the vehicle and attached them together using cellotape. We have chosen the appropriate colours to paint our vehicles.

Writing and Posting Letters to Santa!

Here we are walking to post our letters to Santa. We had to wrap up warm as it was very wet and windy. It didn't stop us having fun and completing our journey - we just splashed in the puddles on the way!

Baking Biscuits!

During our fireworks theme we baked some biscuits. We know to wash our hands before touching any ingredients. We each had a turn at creaming the fat and sugar, sieving the flour, rolling the dough and cutting the dough. We put our biscuits in the oven to bake and once cooled decorated them to look like fireworks!

Golden Bear
This is golden bear! Each class have their very own Golden Bear who lives in their classroom throughout the week. Each Friday the teacher chooses a child from the winning team to take Golden Bear home for the weekend. He takes his sleepover bag and his diary so we can all read about Golden Bears adventures on Monday morning when he returns.

Our Routines

We have enjoyed our first two weeks at school. We are now familiar with some of our school routines. In the morning we know to hang our coats up, unpack our belongings and sit down on the carpet for handwriting and the register. We know how to line up and walk around school quietly and smartly. We enjoy playtime outside on the playground and healthy snack time in our classroom. We have our packed lunches and hot school meals in the hall. We are getting better at remembering all of our things for home time too. Here are some pictures of us showing off our new routines;
