STEM Workshop
We enjoyed a visit from Dr Irene Wise from the Engineering Faculty at Lancaster University. She encouraged us to ‘think outside of the box’ and ‘persevere whilst problem solving’. Through trial and error, we were able to climb through a piece of A4 paper and following some top tips from Dr Irene, learned it was possible to fit 11 children inside a piece of A4! We went on to create a parachute to protect a magic apple from a high fall without damaging it. We then learned how today’s engineers had followed a similar problem solving process when figuring out how to land a roving vehicle on Mars. Thank you Dr Irene for working so hard to inspire us to become engineers of the future.
