Autumn Term
Grandad Wheels
What an absolute honour it was to give a very warm Torrisholme welcome to Grandad Wheels today. We have all been inspired and our hearts warmed by his journey into writing his most magnificent and rather hilarious books. The children were challenged to design a new wheelchair for him with a few design criteria that must be met. We were very excited to welcome him into our classroom and share our wonderful ideas and designs- all of which were worthy of going into manufacture!

The Isle of Man
Determined? ✅ Courageous? ✅✅ Resilient? ✅✅✅
I am in awe of just how amazing the children were during our 5-day residential in the Isle of Man! They showed great maturity throughout this time and many faced their fears and challenges head on with very little encouragement from the grown ups! In fact, it was them who gave us the courage with their steely determination! Feeling extremely proud of how they represented everything that Torrisholme School stands for is an understatement! These are incredible memories that will stay with us all forever! 🤩

The Little Mermaid
What an absolute privilege to have the Little Mermaid swim on over to our school and sing to us during our assembly! The children were in awe of her angelic voice and they were able to ask her so many different questions about her singing and what it’s like to be a mermaid. We hope you enjoy watching her sing beautifully as much as we did.

Evacuation Day
What a fantastic day for our children to experience what it was like to be evacuated as a child during the war. The children were waved off by their parents from the platform at Bare Lane station before they set off on their train journey, reading letters from their parents. They then went to an unfamiliar place: the billeting office where they discovered the host and location they were allocated to; some of the children were not impressed at all! Once their school day started, the children researched what life would have been like as an evacuee and wrote reply letters to their parents. Throughout the day, the children sang war songs beautifully, especially ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and they even managed to show off their sewing skills by darning the holes in their socks!
Coffee Morning
Post-coffee morning treat. After all, it’d be rude to let the left over biscuits go to waste ðŸ¤
Getting Active with Tanzii TV
We were very lucky to have Ottavio and Dario from Tanzii TV join us today for a whole school assembly and our Year 6 superstars got a special workshop in the afternoon too!

The Best Part of Me
To kickstart the term, the children have created some beautiful artwork as a background to their ‘Best Part of Me’ descriptions. I’m sure you’ll agree that the display looks truly stunning!
