Healthy Me
In this unit, we are looking at our mental wellness, gangs, and the dangers of drugs.
What pictures do you get in your mind when we say the word 'Gang'?
The children lots of thoughts about gangs. We talked about the negative aspects of gangs and then looked at the definition of the word. Can you have a good 'gang'?
Next, we looked at ways to create positive feelings when we were feeling sad or fed-up. we learned that everybody feels sad sometmes and we talked about the different ways we can move from a low mood to feeling more positive. Here are some of our ideas:
- Distraction - there are lots of strategies we can use like deep breathing, finger counting, playing music;
- Get physical - sport or outside games can bring you out of a low mood;
- Talk it out - find a trusted adult or friend and talk about it - a problem shared is a problem halved;
- Sleep it out - we recognised that sometimes we experience low moods because we are just tired!
