Exploring Shapes
As part of our learning about bees, we explored the hexagon shape by looking closely at bee hives. We noticed how the shapes fit together perfectly in a pattern called tessellation.
The children used printing tools to create their own tessellated hexagon patterns on paper, just like a real hive!
It was a great way to connect maths and nature through hands-on learning and creativity.

To 20 and Beyond 🚀
We have been exploring the numbers 10, 11, 12 and 13. We looked closely at how these numbers are made up of 10 and some more. We have been using practical resources like ten frames and gems to build these numbers.

We used cubes to show our understanding of big numbers being made up of smaller numbers! Bringing maths out into the sunshine was lovely!

We have been learning all about doubling - and we have had great fun!

Through play we have been exploring maths independently! Using a variety of hands on resources to support our learning and build our confidence.
