Autumn 2

Wow! We had lots of amazing entries into our Great London Bake Off competiton with a theme of London or the Great Fire of London. We sold the cakes for a donation to the Fire Fighters' Charity and have raised £123.65. Thank you to everyone who entered or sent in a donation.

This week, the children have been comparing  Tudor houses to present day homes. We have discussed the various materials used such as wooden frames, wattle and daub and straw or clay tile roofs and how this differs to materials such as brick and stone that is used to build modern day houses. The children have worked really well together to make wattle and daub tiles and their own Tudor houses out of cereal packets. Look out for the display that will be going up on the classroom wall soon.

What an exciting week we have had in 2P. The firefighters visited us on Monday afternoon but unfortunately it wasn't long before they were called away for an emergency. The good news is they came to see both our class and Mrs Dowker's class on Friday. Mrs Dowker and I were extremely proud of how well the children listened and how much they already knew about fire safety. Some of the children role-played what they would do in the event of a house fire and we had our very own little firefighters.

We hope the children have shared with you all they have learned in addition to the fire safety posters and information the firefighters kindly gave  the children to take home.

Below are just some of the photos and short clips of the afternoon. I’m sure you will agree that we have a few aspiring firefighters in the mix!

What a brilliant start to the second half of the Autumn term. It's great to see so many of the class receiving their first badge for reading 25 times. There are many more children who are almost there to achieving this goal. Thank you to all parents and carers for supporting this at home.
