PE
Athletics
To begin their PE lessons, Year 5 took part in several benchmark activities for them to work towards beating by the end of the half term.
Year 5 continued their athletics topic by focussing on short and longer distance running. The children started by timing a short run, then explored several techniques to implement in their running. They then timed their short run again to see if they had improved. The class then worked on stamina, completing several longer runs.
Dance
The children are well underway with their dance topic, space. They have worked both independently and in small groups to explore various methods of travel, shape and formation.
The children continued their dance topic by thinking about items that they would put into a time capsule. In groups, they then formed a short routine using shapes and movements inspired by these items.
The children completed some excellent duets, using counter-balancing and connected shapes.
Netball
For their first lesson on Netball, the class explored the set up of the court, the key rules of the game and, when outside, the three main passes used: chest pass, bounce pass and overhead pass.
Great examples of the passes!
The children applied their skills of passes explored last week to shooting this week!
