Water Information Day
Today, we have had a visit from The Lake District Authority to talk to us about water. We started the session with an activity to work out what we use water for in different areas - the bathroom, the kitchen, school and our gardens. We filled in some information about how we each use water.

When do you use water at home?

Learning about the Water Cycle
What happens to water from a reservoire?

At the end of the session, we did a science experiment to see what happens to different objects which get flshed down the toilet. Some materials flow nicely through the pipes to the sewers, but other objects cause blockages and cause problems for our pipes. We learned that toilet roll breaks down and flows through pipes, but objects such as cotton wool and wet wipes can cause blockages because they do not break down.
Giving our materials a really good shake up!

The cotton wool first

Next, the wet wipe...

Finally, the toilet roll pieces

Pets Corner
The children are keen to bring in pictures and information about their pets.
The girls have been telling us about their pets - they have so many! They have a hamster who keeps them awake at night, a pug and two sausage dogs!
Some children have fish!
