This half term our art topic is
“The Rainforest” 🌳
Our focus artist 👨🎨 is Henri Rousseau 🇫🇷.
We will be exploring different painting techniques 🎨 🖌️.
The movement is Post Impressionism.

For our last art lesson we painted the final layer to our rainforest painting by adding a rainforest animal. 🐅 🦋
This is the second layer of our Henri Rousseau style rainforest painting.
We thought really carefully about perspective and choosing the right brush to get detailed leaf and tree effects.
We used a stippling effect for the background trees.
🎨 Painting 🖼️
We are painting in layers just like Henri Rousseau.
This is our first layer - the background.
We thought carefully about colour and the mood we want to achieve.
We used a larger brush to paint the background as it was a big space to fill.
To achieve a realistic sky effect we have used sweeping horizontal brushstrokes and stippling for the clouds.
Lesson 1 & 2
We compared the work of different post Impressionism artists.
