Evaluating and analysing each other’s designs - check out our fantastic sketchbook recordings!
Using a ‘crit’ to analyse and evaluate our painted, ceramic birds
Glazing our colourful birds
The children enjoyed a busy afternoon working in their sketchbooks as they decided on the colours and designs of their ceramic birds. Using watercolour paints, the children spent time mixing colours, shades and tones whilst working hard to control the types of marks made with thick and thin brushes. Glazing their birds and ensuring they are finished to a high standard comes next - watch this space!
Look who flew in newly fired and ready for their colours 😁
We enjoyed a fabulous afternoon developing our sculpting skills, in Miss Simpson’s art room at Morecambe Bay Academy. We learned how to mould thumb pots, how to use score and slip to join clay pieces and how to use a range of tools to work the clay and add surface decoration. Each of us sculpted and designed a unique ornamental bird which after a few days in the kiln will be returned to us for their finishing touches.
