Spring 2
Easter
This week we have loved learning all about the special celebration of Easter. We shared the Easter story from the Bible and enjoyed discussing how different people celebrate Easter and what we do at home to celebrate with our families. On Wednesday, Debbie from NISCU delivered a very special Easter themed assembly with us and we loved writing about why Easter is a special time. The children blew us away with their wonderful writing, well done Reception! We are so proud of you! We enjoyed being creative and making Easter cards, crafts and delicious Easter nests!
Jasper’s Beanstalk 🍃
We have enjoyed reading and sharing the story of Jasper's Beanstalk by Nick Butterworth and Mick Inkpen. We loved learning the Days of the Week, sharing and singing the story and had lots of fun predicting what we think is at the top of the beanstalk! The children loved being super scientists and learning about how seeds grow and planting our very own bean seed! In maths, we loved measuring 'Jasper's Beanstalks' ordering and measuring using cubes. What fun!
Oliver’s Vegatables
Guiseppe Archibold
We loved learning all about the artist Guiseppe Archibold who used vegetables to create his inspired artwork. We then created our very own pictures in the style of Guiseppe and drawing observational pictures of the different vegetables.

We have had so much fun today making clay faces in the forest!
On Forest Friday we enjoyed looking for signs of Spring. We loved drawing maps to show where we found a squirrel, bumble bee, blossom & daffodils!
Supertato 🌟
Supertato to the rescue! We loved sharing our super hero 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra. Decorating and creating our story characters and writing speech bubbles for the different vegetable characters!
Today we received a special letter from Supertato asking for our help to defeat the Evil Pea. We enjoyed writing a special reply back to Supertato telling him not to fear! Reception at Torrisholme CPS are here!
We had lots of fun creating our own super vegetable characters and describing their appearance.
World Book Day
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day by sharing lots of special stories and talking about our favourite books and discussing the role of the illustrator. We talked about Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet, the author and illustrators of our class story 'Supertato' and then enjoyed drawing ourselves in the style of Supertato with a superhero cape and mask, on our very own book cover!
