Understanding our World
Alexander Graham Bell
In history and science, we have explored the idea of sound waves and how sound is created. We also found out about Alexander Graham Bell and his groundbreaking invention of the telephone.

Amazing inventors
we have been busy designing and building incredible time-saving inventions! Using their creativity and problem solving skills, they worked together to plan and construct machines that make life easier. From robots that tidy up to gadgets that help with everyday tasks, their ideas were full of imagination and innovation. It has been great to see collaborating, sharing ideas, and being fantastic team members. The future looks bright with such young inventors!

Ernest Shackleton
We stepped into the boots of Ernest Shackleton and his daring Antarctic expeditions.
We made our own ‘mini-me’ that will brave the cold and dry weather to the South Pole!

🏮🎊A Chinese New Year Adventure 🐉✨
The children had a great week making beautiful greeting cards and lanterns while discovering the wonders of Chinese New Year! They explored why each year is names after an animal, learned about lucky colours, and uncovered some festive traditions.

❄️ Suitcase Adventures: Hot or Cold? ☀️
We have been learning about environments different from our own by packing a suitcase for hot and cold climates. After reading ‘Penguin on Vacation’ we used our wonderful communication and language skills, and also practised our cutting skills, making this a fun and hands-on way to explore the world around us!

Feathered Friends in Winter 🦅
As part of our exploration of cold climates, the children enjoyed creating bird feeders to help wildlife thrive during our colder months. This hands on activity sparked discussions on being kind to nature, also on how other animals stay warm in colder climates!
Some of our bird feeders were hung in our very own Acorn Corner!

Changes in State: Freezing and Melting
As the freezing days arrived, it was a perfect time to support our learning through changes of state.
We took to painting ice to explore this.
What changes could we see?
Why were these changes happening?
Could we slow these changes down or speed them up?
