PE
Gymnastics
For their next topic in PE, Walney class explored matched and mirrored movements, and moved to doing these with apparatus.
Following on from last week, the children looked at counter-balancing, where they needed to use each other's weight to support their own. They then used these movements, as well as gymnastics movements from last year, to form a routine to show to the rest of the class.
This week, the children practised a variety of counter balance and counter tension movements.
Fencing
We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to fence in year 5, first looking at the key equipment they use and then the main rules. The children finished the session by playing a short match.
Rugby
Year 5 started their new topic of tag-rugby by practising passing the ball correctly, ensuring it travels straight and accurately. They then moved on to some kicking, again looking at how this is done accurately and effectively.
Year 5 continued their practise of throwing and kicking by passing in formation, progressing to walking and running whilst passing.
