Paper Sculpting in Year 1
Post Impression in Year 6
After studying Henri Rousseau’s painting ‘The Surprise’, year 6 created their own versions of this well known post impressionist masterpiece.
Dragons in Year 4
After sculpting our dragons during a visit to the art rooms at MBA, we now have them back ready for painting and glazing. We decided on themes and designs in order to give them their own unique personalities.
Beatles Day
We enjoyed celebrating the ‘Fab Four’ in our whole school art & music day where every class took part in Beatles themed activities including drawing, collage, singing and playing music. The buzz around school was amazing as we took part in these fun collaborations.
Collage in Year 5
Exploring skills and techniques and creating layered montages from vintage ephemera, inspired by the artist Hannah Hoch.
Still Life Painting in Year 4
Painting a still life in the style of the impressionist Paul Cezanne. After analysing still life paintings from throughout history, year 4 identified their favourites before honing their skills by painting carrots and pears. Finally, they curated and painted their own still life masterpieces.
Printing in Year 3
Investigating skills and techniques.
Painting in Year 2
Exploring thick and thin brushes, colour mixing and using black and white to create shapes before painting beautiful landscapes inspired by David McEown and David Abbey Paige.
Printing in Year One
Exploring printing tools and positive and negative print techniques.
Creating a vision
We welcomed Prags Birk into school and children from across the school spent the day embellishing a huge canvas and bringing our school’s vision to life.
‘Learning together, to care for ourselves, each other and the world.’
The children loved having the opportunity to work together in the creation of a shared piece of unique art.The finished canvas will be displayed proudly in our school’s entrance, ready to welcome visitors.
Watercolour Painting Workshops with visiting Artist Hugh Templeton
Years 3 & 4 enjoyed taking part in Hugh’s watercolour workshops which were jam packed with skills and top tips for how to paint like an artist. The finished pieces were certainly worthy of a frame and a space in a gallery - amazing!
Drawing in Year 6
Investigating different effects in pencil, pen and pastel whilst drawing bomb damaged buildings inspired by the work of war artist ‘John Piper’. Check out our analyses and evaluations - amazing!
Painting in Year 5
Taking inspiration from Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’, Year 5 used paint and perspective to create very personal, emotion filled scenes.
Drawing in Year 4
Using drawing skills and new techniques to bring to life super-sized invertebrates.
Collage in Year 3
Marvellous Matisse displays and quilling skills.
Printing in Year 2
Mimicking patterns with an under the sea theme in order to produce a clean mono printed image, using tiles on paper.
Painting in Year 1
Colour mixing using thick and thin brushes and Kandinsky circles.
