Music
Summer 2
This half term in Music we are going to be focusing on composition. We have revised our musical terminology (feel free to ask the children about dynamics, texture and tempo -they are experts!) and have made a wonderful word bank to help us remember. We then started thinking about composition to a short film clip, we looked at a 25 second clip of the film ‘Rio’ and the children were tasked to create sound effects and music to the clip. We will be working on this in the coming weeks!
Week 2 of composition in Year 4 and the children in Leven have impressed me with their excellent recall of musical notes -they enjoyed playing a game to make words out of the notes. The children were then set the challenge of creating another piece of music to compliment the film clip ‘Rio’, however, this time they needed to write the correct notes on a stave to remember what they had created.

This week in our composition lessons, we are looking at music with technology. We explored the Chrome Music Lab website and discovered lots of ways to compose. We used the Melody Maker first to create a simple tune and then tried something slightly more complex using the Song Maker.
This week in Year 4 we looked at loops In music. We explored the website ‘Incredibox’ which helped us to understand how layers create a really thick-textured piece of music.
