Christmas crafts! A big thank you to the lovely June who came in to complete some special Christmas crafts with us today, we had so much fun! 💙
We enjoyed our Christmas dinner in our Christmas party outfits and followed by an afternoon of fun and festive party games!
We loved writing a letter to Santa, walking to the post box on Low Lane to post our letters, all the way to Reindeer Land in the North Pole!

The children have enjoyed listening to our story 'Stick Man' and on Forest Friday we loved creating our very own 'Stick Man' using twigs and sticks from our forest!
We loved our visit to the Lancaster Grand Theatre to watch ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ 🎭 and our classroom picnic! What a wonderful festive treat!

We have loved learning about the amazing artist George Seurat! He was a famous artist for France, who painted pictures using small dots to create an image, pointillism! We loved creating our own amazing artwork inspired by George Seurat!

Melting and Freezing! 🧊
We discovered our dinosaurs and people were trapped by the ice! Oh no! Reception children rushed to their rescue and we thought of all the different ways we could melt the ice. The children were superb scientists and thought of some amazing ideas!

Fun on Forest Friday!
We loved making smelly cocktails by taking ‘a pinch’ of things we found in our woodland area. We made some wonderful smells! We also loved going through a very muddy puddle, ‘squelch‘ ‘squelch‘, what fun!

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got and home he trot as fast as he could caper.
He went to bed and fixed his head with vinegar and brown paper.

We loved singing and signing 'Hickory Dickory Dock'. 🕰️
We used new rhyming words in our song and enjoyed looking at the famous landmark, Big Ben in London and locating on a map! We listened to Big Bens chimes.
We enjoyed telling the time (o'clock times) and thinking about things we do in the day, at different times. We loved drawing and exploring clocks and making our own clocks. What fun!
We loved singing and signing our rhyme of the day 'Heads, Shoulder, Knees and Toes'. We loved playing a listening game of 'Simon Says' and drawing around our friend to label and name the different parts of our body and exploring our senses!
We loved singing and signing our Day 4 rhyme 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat' and we had a special visitor, the wonderful Mrs Jones from Year 3 came with her guitar to help us sing and learn our nursery rhyme of the day.
We loved learning about different types of boats whilst exploring floating and sinking. We loved making and creating our very own beautiful boats that would float!
Our wonderful Mrs Jones came to visit us today for our ‘World Nursery Rhyme Week’ Celebrations! We loved listening to her guitar and clapping along to the beat!
On Friday, we loved jumping on board our brilliant bus and singing and signing our new story 'Wheels on the Bus'.
We loved working out how many people got on the bus and how many people there are now? Using our clever calculations. We enjoyed drawing maps for the bus route and making journey sticks on our Forest Friday adventure!

We talked about the significance of Poppies and Remembrance Day and creating some representations of poppies in different ways to remember the brave soldiers.
Diwali 🪔
We have had a lovely week in Reception celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. We enjoyed making diya lamps out of clay and decorating them, created Rangoli patterns out of shapes and chalk. We enjoyed creating Mehndi hand patterns. We loved learning the story of Rama and Sita. On Thursday, we had a Diwali party complete with Bollywood dancing. We created mandala art in the forest, using natural objects to create and adorn the grounds with light and colourful floor art in celebration of the festival of light. We decorated our last Rangoli and lit our diya candles and sent out positive thoughts for the Hindu new year.
