Measuring Mass
The children enjoyed investigating “mass” using the balance scales.
They compared different objects in the classroom and could say which were ‘lighter’ and ‘heavier’.
Lighter and Heavier
We have been measuring the mass of various objects around the classroom, using the balance scales and cubes. We found out that our class toy penguin weighed 23 cubes!
We have been looking at 'capacity' and exploring key vocabulary like 'full', 'nearly full', 'empty', 'nearly empty' and 'half full/empty'. We were set different challenges to make the jugs have the same or different capacities.
We have been learning how to count in 2s and we have been amazing at it!

Hurray for Arrays!
We have been learning how to create arrays in maths today. Look at our fantastic results…
Halving shapes and objects
Halving quantities
We have been looking at ordinal numbers and how they are spelt as words too. We have been having bean bag races and placing each other as 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th place, and understanding the order in which ordinal numbers come. The races were so fun!
