The Call of the Wild - Jack London

We are really enjoying this text! It is challenging to read and we are learning a wealth of new vocabulary including words such as demesne, imperiously and egotistical! The story is about a spoilt dog who is kidnapped, and taken to find gold in Alaska. We are really enjoying the excerpts from the film and are producing some super written work from the text.

We are tracking the character of Buck and how he changes over the course of the novel, eventually finding his inner spirit.

Poor Buck! He has been dog-knapped and treated really badly. He can not understand why he is being treated so badly. We have been thinking about what Buck might be thinking and feeling about the situation. 

Buck is employed as a team member pulling the sledge delivering the US mail. He has never had friends who are not human. We wrote descriptions for Buck and three of his team- Curly, Dave and Spitz.

We have been thinking of the two main characters in the story - Buck and Spitz -  and how they feel about each other.
