Supporting Learning at Home
Learning doesn't stop when your child leaves Teddies!
Everyday experiences at home provide wonderful opportunities to support your child's learning, development and independence. The small, simple activities and conversations can truly make the biggest difference!
Independence and Self-Help Skills:
It is often quicker (and easier!) to do things for your child, but giving them the time and encouragement to have a go on their own allows them to develop their self-help skills ready for school and also everyday life! Things such as using the toilet independently, getting dressed/undressed and tidying away their toys are all wonderful opportunities for your child to practice being more independent.
Making the most of Conversations:
Everyday activities such as mealtimes, car journeys and shopping trips provide some fantastic opportunities for language-rich interactions, developing your child's language and communication skills.
Top Tip: Our curriculum newsletters provide an overview of what we will be learning about each term. Use this as a guide for conversations at home or on the journey to and from Teddies!
Meet Ernie, Our Class Teddy:
We are delighted to have our very own Torrisholme Teddies Bear - Ernie!

Each week, Ernie will choose a 'Terrific Teddy' to take him home for the weekend. This will give your child the opportunity to share their home experiences with Ernie and talk about the special things that they have done together with their friends and grown ups on return to Teddies. Ernie is a happy little bear and enjoys all kinds of experiences from trips out to the park, visiting friends/families or simply cuddling on the sofa for a movie night!
Thank you for supporting your child's learning and development at home. The everyday things that you do together really do make the difference!
