Painting - Beautiful Realism
The children begun this unit by using water colours to block colour their background, in the style of William Morris. The children needed to try and get as solid of a colour as possible, which they did brilliantly at!

Continuing in the style of William Morris, the children the draw and painted floral patterns on top of their block-coloured backgrounds. They needed to be as precise and detailed with their paint strokes as possible, and many experimented with colour by mixing.
The children then used their experience of William Morris’ art pieces to create and compile a selection of floral patterns to choose from later on.

The children started their final piece by creating their backgrounds using water colours. The children had to ensure a consistent shade across the page, with many creating their own colours too.

Whilst their backgrounds were drying, the children created colour wheels to consider what colours they would want to use for the floral patterns. Doing this, many created their own shades of colours by mixing some of the primary colours.
