Francis

Our writing stimulus this month is 'Francis', a short film about the disappearance of a young girl, who ventures out onto a Lake in Quertico Park. The short film is full of mystery and is an excellent opportunity for us to create atmospheric setting descriptions. We have started by predicting what we think has happened to Francis, just from the opening scene...

We then wrote a short description of Quertico park, persuading people to visit this amazing natural forest and lake.

This week, we have been thinking of up-leveling noun phrases, using a pyramid system to help us structure them.

World Book Day

We absolutely loved our school picture book - 'The Night Gardener', written by the Fan Brothers. We particularly loved the illustrations and how they gave us so much more information about the story.

We discussed the book in depth, trying to imagine the world that William lived in and how the relationship with the Night Gardener changed his life. We decided to write diary entries based on the book, recording each new day as it happened as William navigated the changes in Grimlock Lane. We then displayed our entries on a large sheet and decorated it with our own illustrations.
