The children spent time making inferences about each of the characters in Letters from the Lighthouse and they justified them brilliantly using evidence from the text.

The children have been exploring Emma Carroll’s use of descriptive devices to help the children use their senses to write noun phrases in preparation for writing a description of the air raid experienced by Olive and Cliff in our class text.
The children enjoyed being immersed into our English text ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by taking part in an air raid to think about how the characters would’ve felt. They then wrote a first person account of their air raid shelter experience which included lovely emotive language.
