Magic Door
To start Year 5, the children created their own doorways into an imaginary world. They took inspiration from films and shows they’ve seen, like Narnia, Harry Potter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and wrote expanded noun phrases for both the door and world beyond.
Life Cycle Explanation Text
To start their new topic, the children looked at distinguishing between facts and opinions. In pairs, they read through a text, highlighting statements that were facts, and ones that were opinions.
To help with their writing, the children used IPads to research questions that could then be answered in the explanation texts.
The children have begun writing their explanation texts after forming a toolkit from an example piece.
