Maths
We have now moved onto our Shape unit. Where we have started by reminding ourselves of compass points and NORTH, EAST, SOUTH AND WEST. As well as clockwise and anti-clockwise. We are now looking at angles and identifying them as acute, right angle and obtuse. We are linking our understanding of these angles to quarter turns and half turns.
How long until lunchtime? Is it hometime?
This week in Maths, we’ve been working on telling the time. We revisited the minute hand (longer one) and hour hand (shorter one) and refreshed how to read, write, and draw o’clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to, and five-minute intervals. The 5 minute intervals sometimes still catch us out but we are reminded to count in 5's as we move around the clock.
We have practised converting analogue time to digital, solved some word problems, and even began working with 12-hour and 24-hour time formats.
The children are showing great resilience with this tricky topic!
