Testing Darwin’s theory of evolution. Firstly, the children learned about Charles Darwin and then they used the images of the finches found by Darwin to discuss similarities and differences and which foods the beaks were most suited to.
Investigating how natural selection works. 400 coloured ‘worms’ were scattered on the field for the children to hunt. The children then recorded how many of each colour were hunted to determine which colours were the easiest to catch and which were the hardest. Using their understanding of natural selection, the children then explained the results of their investigation.
