Our Mould Investigation
This half term, we are finishing our topic on classifying animals and plants with a rather disgusting investigation! We have been learning about micro-organisms including bacteria and germs and have been thinking about why and how food goes mouldy.
We set up an experiment involving two pieces of bread. Who coud make their bread go mouldy the quickest? What conditions speed up the mould process? In pairs, the children decided on two variables for their bread. The children were quite creative!

The children placed their samples inside the classroom and outside. Three sets of children thought they had placed theirs safely outside but they had disappeared the next day - we suspect seagulls! We have been observing them over the past week...

The children are very happy with their results after a week and a half.
