Spring Term
On a Winter’s Day
Throughout our first spring half term, we will spend time developing our knowledge and understanding of the season ‘winter’. We will be out and about developing our geography skills whilst identifying key seasonal changes. Later, as scientists, we will be investigating freezing and melting and the factors which bring about these wintery changes in state. We will then move onto comparing hot and cold climates as we take a holiday with a penguin; meeting up with animal friends from around the world.
Marvellous Machines
Throughout the second half of spring term, we will be stepping into the marvellous world of machines as we tinker with everyday ‘machines’ from the past and present. Our classroom ‘Design Labs’ will whirr into life as we plan, make and evaluate our own marvellous ‘time saving’ machines taking inspiration from the text ‘Rosie Revere Engineer’. We will also learn about the telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell before exploring sound waves and making our own telephones. We will bring the term to a close with an ‘egg’citing week of Easter themed learning.
