Week One - The Very Hungry Caterpillar

PHSE - Making Friends
This week we have been learning about plants. We have planted our own sunflowers and have been taking care of them, making sure we water them in this lovely warm weather! We have also been talking about 'What makes a good friend'. We have had a lovely week playing and learning in the sun, whether its been rolling down hills, outside painting or sitting in a great big box reading with our friends!
We have also been practising writing our name, some of us even had a go writing it in shaving foam! We have been busy learning our numbers and enjoyed squirting the water at them.
Week Three - Mad About Minibeasts
PHSE - Making Friends
This week we have been reading the book 'Mad About Minibeasts'. We have been looking at different minibeast that we might find at the bottom of our garden. We made some yummy ladybird biscuits, using our skills to spread out the icing and counting the ladybirds spots. We have also made a bee, looking and recreating their stripy black and yellow pattern.
We have enjoyed playing out in in the sun again this week, improving our balance bike skills and working as a team when playing with the parachute. We have also been singing lots of nursery rhymes, we especially like the action songs!
This week in PHSE we have been looking at being a good friend and talking about how we can be kind to our friends. We each painted our hands and made a 'Teddies Friendship Wreath'.
We have also been looking after our sunflowers this week. Nearly all of them have started to grow.
Week Four - Superworm
This week we had some very special guests arrive in the Teddies classroom. Our caterpillars finally arrived and they have grown so big in just one week.
This week we have been reading 'Superworm'. We have made our very own Superworms by using our fine motor skills by twisting pipe cleaners around sticks. We have also been the mean 'Lizard Wizard' and been making potions. The Teddies have enjoyed spending time out side this week keeping up with our balance bike skills, we have also climbed the 'Mountain of Tyres' and been on our holidays in the car to Keswick! In numeracy we have been looking at shapes and have enjoyed going on shape hunts. We have also read 'Shark in the Park' and made our own telescopes, looking up at the sky, looking at the ground, looking left, looking right and looking all around!
Week Five - The Bad Tempered Ladybird
PHSE - Friends
This week we have been going on a journey with the bad tempered ladybird and meeting the different animals he meets. We made yummy ladybird biscuits and have been little artist painting our own ladybirds.
We have also made ribbon wands and have been practising our dance moves especially our big arm movements to help us with our mark making and writing skills.
This week we have been talking about 'What makes a good friend'. We have talked about how we can be good friends at Torrisholme Teddies. We made friendship bracelets and made sure we shared the gems and stickers out and only took what we needed so that our friends can use them too.
Thursday afternoon we spent some time in the Starfish class, enjoying playing in the mud kitchen and crawling through tunnels. The boys did a great job working together to build a wall.
Our caterpillars have finally turned in to cocoons this week. They are going to spend the half term at Mrs Matthews house, who will keep you updated if they turn in to butterflies over the half term.
This term in Teddies we are learning all about different animals, where they live and how we can look after them.
Week One - Dear Zoo
PHSE - All about me
This week we also took the opportunity to practise our flying skills. We grabbed our capes and masks and went flying in the wind!
We also said goodbye to our butterflies. They lived in their cocoons for 7 - 14 days and we ended up having four beautiful butterflies which we released on Wednesday afternoon.
Week Two - Farmyard Hullaballoo
This week we have been down on the farm, milking the cows and making chickens and sheep. Practicing our scissor skills and creating masterpieces. We have been looking at the important job that a sheepdog does and all the other animals who live on the farm.
In PE we have been staying on the minibeast theme from last term. We have been practice being caterpillars, wiggling along a bench, getting to the end curling up into our tiny cocoons and then jumping off turning into a beautiful butterfly.
We have also been practicing our independent skills by taking our shoes and socks off and then putting them back on, this is helping us to get ready to go to school.
On Monday a special guest came to town, The King! We spent the day learning all about King Charles, where he lives in London, his family and how he came all the way to Lancaster on his train. We made crowns and loved playing with the white, blue and red rice.

Week Three
Rumble in the Jungle
This week we have been down in the jungle, playing in swamps and creating our own jungles out of playdoh and broccoli! We have made lots of new animals, lions using forks and giraffe hats, also cheeky monkeys who are swinging around in our class room! We have been looking at world maps and seeing where jungles are in the world.
In PE we have been practising our ball skill, working together passing and catching the ball. We have also been out zooming around on the balance bikes again this week.
Week Four
The Snail and the Whale
This week we have been diving deep into the ocean and looking to the different animals who live there. We have been on an adventure with the whale and the snail, looking at maps and oceans across the world. We have made jellyfish, whales and beautiful fish. We also got creative and made our very own snail shells. We have also been practising our number formation in shaving foam and concentrating on our numbers 1 to 5. We enjoyed playing with the musical instruments, we did a great job of shaking and stopping. We have also been practising out balancing and ball skills both in PE and outside, creating our own games of catch.
Tap and Stop
The boys did a great job at playing 'Tap and Stop'. They listened really carefully and played together.
Week Five
What the Ladybird Heard
This week we have been on a adventure to save the fine prize cow, with the Ladybird and the other animals on the farm. We have been practising our making make skills in the sand. We have also made yummy sheep biscuits and made ladybird telephones.
On Monday we celebrated the start of Wimbledon, by learning about tennis in our PE lesson, practising our bat and ball skills. We them drew a tennis court in our outdoor area, enjoying many round of tennis with an umpire and ball boys and girls. We even tried a Wimbledon tradition of strawberries for snack.
We also got the chance to have a go at wheelchair basketball, everyone had a go and followed the instructions well.
Week Six
Dinosaurs Love Underpants
This week has been a very busy week in teddies. We have done lots of playing and learning. We have been reading the book 'Dinosaurs Love Underpants. We have been camping like the cavemen enjoying roasting marshmallow and sleeping in our tent. We have designed some beautiful pants using loose parts and crafting parts. We also went on a dinosaur hunt round school. We have also enjoyed our music lessons this week, investigating different instruments and looking how they work, do we need to tap or shake them to make music.
Week Seven
Starting School
This week we have had a very busy week getting ready for the end of the school year. We have enjoyed spending time together as a class and celebrating everything we have done in Torrisholme Teddies this year.
