Understanding our World
🌊 Morecambe Bay Day with the RNLI 🚤
We had a fantastic time celebrating Morecambe Bay Day with a special visit from the RNLI. The children learned all about how the lifeboat crews help to keep people safe at sea and around the bay. They enjoyed asking questions, and finding out what to do if someone needs help in the water. It was a brilliant way to learn about our local area and the amazing people who work hard to keep our community safe!
Morecambe Bay Day - The Past and Present of The RNLI
As part of our Morecambe Bay Day celebrations, the children explored how life jackets have changed over time. We looked at what they were made from in the past and compared them to the ones used today. The children carried out a fun investigation to test different materials to see which would sink or float. It was a brilliant, hands-on way to learn about keeping safe on the water!
Signs of Autumn 🍂
In Science, we have been learning about the signs of autumn and how the world around us
changes with the seasons. The children have observed how the weather becomes cooler,
the days get shorter, and the leaves change colour and fall from the trees. We have explored our school grounds and spotted all these signs.
Pebble Families
This week the children explored the idea of families through our pebble families activity. Using pebbles, they created representations of the people who live in their homes. The children enjoyed talking about their family members and why they are special to them using key vocabulary while describing familiar people.
