After being introduced to our new focus artist, Alexander Calder, the children created their own double page spreads with the theme of modern kinetic art.
Using the theme of Calder’s pieces, the children created their own paper mobiles, using primary coloured card as details.
We then evaluated these mobiles, mentioning what we liked, how they compared to Calder’s pieces, and what could be improved to make hem better.
To create their final design, the children sketched many ideas down, considering the features Calder included in his pieces and trying to incorporate these.
Using pipe cleaner, the children took some of their design ideas and brought these to life.
