Art - Sculpture

This half term we are immersing ourselves into the surrealist artwork of famous Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti.
Giacometti is famous for his figurative sculptures which have a unique slender appearance.
We have also appreciated and evaluated the work of other famous sculptors…Clyde Bango, Clive Maddison and Elizabeth Catlett.

We are emulating Giacometti’s style of surrealist sculpture.
First, we sketched a design and made a prototype using pipe cleaners.

We are making a start on our wire sculpture. We are shaping and manipulating our wire to form our desired shape by bending, looping, coiling, twisting and cutting then covering it in foil ready to paint.

Our sculpture is now free-standing and can be painted.
We used a dry brushing, dabbing technique with acrylic paint.
