Autumn
Autumn 1
Welcome to Atumn 1 term and the children have made an amazing start to Year 6 already! In English, we have started our Narrative Unit based around Emma Carroll's book 'Letters From the Lighthouse', a novel about children evacuated to the countryside during WW2. We are looking at sentence structure and noun phrases and will be writing some exciting stories based on this era. In Maths, we are looking at place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division strategies answering a range of word problems. In Science, we are investigating light and shadows. In History, we are learning about the causes, battles and effect on the nation during WW2. In Art, we will be concentrating on our drawing skills, including perspective in our work and in Music we will sing a range of songs, learning how to breathe and stand appropriately in order to give a good performance. In PE, it is dance and cricket and in RE we continue to look at a range of religions and ask the question 'What does religion look like around the world?' Finally, in PSHE we are thinking about 'Being me in my world', focussing on friendships, relationships and safety.
