The Maya Civilisation
The children started the unit by exploring the timeline of the Mayans, focusing on key points of their history, e.g. when they started, when certain cities became capitals and when Europeans came over.
To delve deeper into the Maya history, we looked at foods that were important in this culture. We focussed on maize and cacao and learnt about the medicinal and religious importance of these.
