Mousehole Cat
We spent the first lesson of our new unit exploring words unfamiliar words from the story.
We sorted the words into; words we know and could explain, words we have heard of but are unsure of the meaning and words we have never heard of.
We used a template of an egg to represent this.
Yolk = words we know
Egg white = words we have heard of but unsure of the meaning
Crispy edge = words we have never heard if
Next we shared our ideas and spent some time exploring the definitions of these words in the context of the story. We talked about how different words can have different meanings but today we were learning about the meaning in the context of this story.

- Powerful verbs
- Alliteration
- Onomatopoeia
- Expanded Noun phrases
